|Over 20 years ago, Wayne began to learn the art of rawhide braiding in order to make a couple of sets of gear for his wife and himself. Thatís what started the whole thing.
Wayne learned the basics from books, and finally in 1999 took a week long course from Mike and Cindy Beaver - definitely should have done that to begin with. Wayne became passionate about his work concentrating on the California style of braiding and he always strives for perfection.
Since then, he has been lucky enough to attend the Traditional Cowboy Arts show and learn more about the art from other master braiders such as Nate Wald and Leland Hensley.
Wayne attends various shows throughout the U.S.A and Canada -including The Californios, Jordan Valley, Oregon; Pendleton, Oregon, Edmonton Finals Ranch Rodeo; Wickenburg, Arizona; Maple Creek - Saskatchewan; Nanton Ranch Rodeo in Alberta, the Cow Camp Trading Post Show in Elko, Nevada; the Great Basin Show in Elko, Nevada (Wayne has won two of the three times he has entered).
In 2009, Wayne received the prestigious award of Braider of the Year from the Academy of Western Artists in the U.S.
